A new crochet basket...

A while I go I came across some cool yarn at Spotlight called Gypsy. I'd never seen it before and it was like one big long strip of t-shirt fabric all rolled into a ball.
I thought it'd be fun to play with so I bought a couple of balls, brought it home and stuck it my craft room where it stayed until this week when I got the sudden urge to dig it out.  Since it needed an 8mm hook I figured it'd be chunky enough to make a crochet basket to hold my latest projects and yarns. :)
I didn't have a pattern so just started off with a magic circle and crocheted some circular increasing rows until I had the width of the basket I wanted.
Then I simply stopped increasing and kept crocheting until I reached the height I was after...easy!
I just love the texture it creates and it grows so quickly!  It feels nice and strong and stretchy too.  I found it really easy to work with!
Once I'd reached the height I wanted I added a handle on either side...and then it was done!
Cute huh?  It's the perfect size to sit next to me holding my yarn while I work on my latest projects.  I'm on the hunt for more colours now and have also ordered a thicker t-shirty yarn called Zpagetti which I can't wait to use!  I can see lots more crochet baskets and other fun things being made very soon. :)

Crochet Easter Bunny

After seeing the cute little crochet Easter bunnies that Mel and her daughter Bella had made on her blog yesterday and then seeing more pop up all over instagram I thought I'd have a go too!
If you'd like to make one to you can find the free tutorial here!  It was really easy to follow.  Just crochet all the bits you need, sew them all together and add a little stuffing!  Such a cute pattern. :)

Madi had already claimed this one and named her Emma. LOL  I think it'll be hard to stop at just one bunny.
Happy Easter everyone!

Scrapz Do or Die Weeks 7 & 8 and a new comp!

Today saw the end of our Do or Die competition over at Scrapz.Biz...and the lucky winner was Maree!  A huge congrats to you Maree!  I can now reveal my last two sample pages...

Here's my sample page for week 7 (details can be found HERE.)...

Once again I've been digging through my old photos and can't believe I haven't scrapped these pics of Madi before!  They were taken on her first birthday...she was such a little sweetheart!

Love that little cheeky grin...

And finally this was my week 8 sample page (details HERE)...

These are some older photos too...although as you can see not quite as old as the previous ones!  Feels good to be catching up on pages for Madi's album and filling in some gaps.

That might be the end of our Do or Die comp but we've got a new competition starting next week...Scrapz Scrapbook Sleuth!  It's going to be lots of fun!!

Each week you will be given a common sketch and three sample pages.
Your task is to work out the five (5) common items on these pages and include them on your layout.

We'll have a $20 voucher to give away each week.

There will be a secret vote each week and we will award a 'Scrapz Super Scrapbook Sleuth' at the end of the comp who will win a $100 Crate scrapbooking pack and a runner-up who will receive a $50 Crate prize pack.

We'd love for you to come on over and join in the fun!

Scrapz Do or Die Comp weeks 5 & 6...

Today shares are my sample pages from weeks 5 & 6 of our Do or Die Comp over at Scrapz.Biz.  (You can find all the details and weekly challenges HERE.)  Again we were given dvd movie covers as inspiration for our pages along with additional criteria we had to include.

Here's my week 5 sample (Details can be found HERE.)...

For this week's criteria we had to have a Christmas symbol clearly visible so I used a star.  We also had to have the word 'hard' somewhere on the page.

Here's my title...

We also had to have a 'stacked' element on the page.  I've layered chipboard and paper pieces to create my own embellishment here...

Now for my week 6 page (details can be found HERE)...

The criteria for this week's challenge stated that we had to include something related to flying so I used  little chipboard butterflies...

We also had to have the word 'time' somewhere on the page...

And we had to include a cord.  I've used some twine on my journalling tag here...

I only have two more page left to share for this comp!  I'll be back soon.

Scrapz Do or Die Comp Weeks 3 & 4...

Today I've got my weeks 3 and 4 sample pages to share from our Scrapz Do or Die Comp.  (You can see all details of the comp and the weekly challenge HERE.) Again we were provided with a dvd movie cover to use as inspiration and there were other criteria we needed to include on the page as well.

Here's my week 3 page (details can be found HERE)...

I've used gorgeous Echo Park For The Record 2 goodies to complete this page.  I really love this combination of colour...

Two of the criteria were that we had to use a weather symbol and a word relating to the weather which you can see in this little cluster of embellishments...

Another closeup...

This is my week 4 page (details can be found HERE.)...

This time the criteria included something relating to fashion so I added some little wooden cameras to my page...

Here's my title...

We also had to have something hidden and a note somewhere on the page so I had a hidden journalling tag here...

And some photos tucked away inside the envelope here...

Another close-up just for fun...

I'll be back tomorrow with my week 5 & 6 pages. :)
